Dr. Jack J. Phillips, Chairman, ROI Institute, Inc.

Dr. Jack Phillips is a world-renowned expert on measurement and evaluation, providing consulting services for major corporations, associations and governments throughout the world.

He is also the author of 50 books about measurement and evaluation and has trained and certified nearly 3000 ROI professionals in more than 50 countries.

His background in training and HR led Phillips to develop the ROI Methodology™ which provides bottom-line figures and accountability for all types of meetings and events, training and development programs, performance improvement, human resources development, technology development, quality six sigma, etc.

Phillips has undergraduate degrees in electrical engineering, physics, and mathematics, a master’s degree in decision sciences and a Ph.D. in human resource management.


Dr. Patti P. Phillips, CEO, ROI Institute, Inc.

Dr. Patti Phillips is president and CEO of ROI Institute, Inc., the leading source of ROI competency building, implementation support, networking, and research.

After a thirteen-year career in the electrical utility industry, Phillips began her work with the ROI Methodology. Since 1997, she has embraced the ROI process, conducting research on the methodology as well as applying it to a variety of programs in private and public sector as well as non-profit organizations.

Patti teaches others to implement the ROI Methodology through the ROI certification process and has published five books on the subject. She has a Ph.D. in International Development and a Master’s degree in Public and Private Management.


Dr. Elling Hamso, Managing Partner, Event ROI Institute

Dr. Elling Hamso is a Meeting Management Consultant and Managing Partner of European Event ROI Institute.

He has spent most of his career as a senior executive in the Norwegian oil and gas industry and later as a management consultant. He started an event agency in Norway in 2000 and the European Event ROI Institute in 2005.

Hamso is Past President of Meeting Professionals International Norway Chapter and has been a member of MPI’s European Council and Research Advisory Panel. He is a frequent speaker at meetings industry conferences on subjects such as Measuring Return on Investment, Meeting with the Millennium Generation, Meeting Architecture, Procurement and Supply Chain Management, and Technology for Meetings and Events.

Conference & Incentive Travel Magazine ranked him 5th on their list of the 50 most influential people in the UK meetings and events industry in 2006 Hamso is a Management Sciences graduate and holds a Ph.D. in supplier – customer relationship strategies from Manchester University.


Dianne Lowther, Principal, Brilliant Minds

Dianne Lowther has been in Learning and Development for most of her working life.  After achieving a degree in Psychology she started her career as a line manager in the service sector with responsibilities for training. She also participated in competitive debating and public speaking, reaching national finals on 3 occasions.

After progressing to corporate training manager roles, Dianne became a consultant in the early 1990s.  As principal of Brilliant Minds she has been delivering training solutions for a wide range of organisations for about fourteen years.  Dianne is known for her practical application of principles of psychology to business leadership and last year won a National Training Award for a project with the leadership team of a company in the automotive sector.

Dianne works mostly on business leadership and communications, helping Directors and Senior Managers to engage their workforce, spread constructive messages and inspire confidence.  This includes both formal and informal presentation and communication skills as well as the skills of ‘Impact and Influence’.  Her particular expertise is in choice and structure of language to achieve a specific purpose.


Maarten Vanneste, President, Meeting Support Institute

Maarten Vanneste is President of Meeting Support Institute and author of the book ‘Meeting Architecture – Manifesto’.

In 1982 he founded ABBIT in Belgium which is today an international audiovisual production company.

Vanneste has been President of the Belgian chapter of Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and attained his Certification in Meeting Management (CMM) in 2004.

In 2006 Vanneste founded the Meeting Support Institute, based on his CMM business plan. This not for profit institute brings together meeting support companies and educates, informs and motivates meeting planners to develop the content and format of meetings in order to achieve maximum value to stakeholders.

Maarten Vanneste won the IMEX Academy award 2005.


Ruud Janssen, Managing Owner, TNOC

Ruud Janssen is the managing owner of ©TNOC, an unconventional marketing collective.

With a background in Marketing in the Hospitality and Meetings & Events Industry over the past 20 years, Ruud is Meeting Professional International’s accredited trainer and university lecturer on various topics related to the Events, Marketing & Communication Industries.

He is also the Director on the International Board of Directors of MPI International, a board member of the Meeting Support Institute and a Steering Committee member of Project Meeting Architecture.

In the past he has served as President for MPI in the Netherlands and worked for companies such as Steigenberger Hotels & Resorts and Congrex Group. His educational background is in hospitality marketing from the Hotel Management School Maastricht and Cornell University in Ithaca, NY.
